The Charitable Process
Helping Others
Seeking to embody the Jesuit Spirit, we chose to fund opportunities working to sustain neighborhoods, community, and life around the Baltimore, Maryland region.
Because of the particular focus and approach of our charitable process, we do not accept unsolicited Letters of Inquiry or Grant Applications. If you believe your organization falls within our focus areas and would like to make us aware of your work, please contact us.
The application process begins with our staff requesting a Letter of Inquiry (LOI). After review of the LOI, our grantmaking committee may request a full Grant Application. If a Grant Application is approved, you will receive a formal Grant Award Letter and Grant Agreement.
LOIs and Grant Applications are reviewed throughout the year.
Our grants do not exceed 10% of an organization’s total annual operating budget. We provide the following types of support to 501(c)3 organizations and Designated Causes:
general operating support,
programmatic support,
capital funding for projects bearing the DePalo name,
capacity building, and
challenge grants.
We do not provide support for:
deficit financing,
galas, special events, or advertising space in event programs, and/or
political activities.
